When he entered the NFL, Oakland Raiders running back Darren
McFadden was one of the most coveted young players available. Over five seasons
in the NFL, he’s shown glimpses of his potential, but he’s yet to take off due
to injuries and inconsistency. Now, as McFadden enters the final year of his
contract, the running back told NFL.com that he is looking to put his past
behind him and produce a big season for the Raiders.
"There's always going to be things that gets your blood boiling," McFadden said. "But last year was last year. It's something I put behind me. We're moving forward, and I'm looking forward to a new season."
As a result of his ailments and the struggles of Oakland’s
offensive scheme, McFadden only averaged 58.9 yards per game, with 3.3 yards
per rush. He had been solid in 2010-11, averaging over 5.4 yards per rush, and
his best campaign came in ’11 when he finished the year with 1,157 yards
rushing, 507 yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns.
