Over the weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles lost wide receiver
Jeremy Maclin for the season to a torn ACL. They started their week by losing
another player with a similar injury, as linebacker Jason Phillips had to be
carted off the practice field Monday with what was later confirmed to be a torn
ACL, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.

The Eagles signed Phillips this offseason after the
linebacker spent the past two years with the Carolina Panthers. While he wasn’t
expected to be a starter with Philly, he was viewed as an important special
teams player.
Phillips avoided significant injury last season, as he was
able to play in all 16 games for the Panthers, starting twice. He’s now slated
to join Maclin on the sideline for the entire 2013 campaign.
