Denard Robinson will play all over the field during his rookie season, and in the three snaps he saw in the Wildcat formation, the speedy former quarterback from the University of Michigan displayed the kind of diversity he brings to the table.
Robinson ran once, handed off to Maurice Jones-Drew and threw a completion, according to the Florida Times-Union. Given that the Jaguars quarterbacks threw eight straight incompletions under no duress, we'll put a tiny gold star on Robinson's pass.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said he likes the pressure put on defenses by having Robinson in the backfield, but ball security has been an issue early on. Speaking to the Florida Times-Union, Bradley said:
"We did it in OTAs and a couple of times he ran the ball and fumbled the ball and he didn't know how to pitch. We're not going to give up on that. (Offensive coordinator) Jedd's (Fisch) philosophy is to get it in the playmaker's hands and we want to see if he's a playmaker and the threat he can give us.''
Robinson's case will be an interesting one to watch as the season unfolds, especially with the NFL's shakiest quarterback situation.
