Yesterday, Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen updated
reporters on the status of several injured players, including cornerback D.J.
Hayden. Allen said that Hayden – who recently underwent surgery to remove scar tissue from his abdominal region – is expected to rejoin the team and be ready
to go by the time training camp rolls around, according to Steve Corkran of The
Contra Costa Times.
“Everything went fine,” Allen said. “Everything was kind of as we had hoped and anticipated. Hey, listen, it’s a little bit of uncharted waters, but we still feel comfortable that he’ll be back and ready to go in camp. We still have seven weeks before we start training camp. It’s 51 days from now until we start training camp. We feel confident he’ll be back and be ready to go.”
Prior to undergoing the operation, Hayden had been
complaining of stomach pain. After evaluation, the procedure was required, and
it will sideline him through the remainder of the team’s OTAs.
Hayden has returned to the practice field, but the
first-round draft pick is only able to watch the sessions from the sidelines.
