Seattle Seahawks tight end Anthony McCoy suffered a
partially torn Achilles tendon during the team’s organized team activities, an
injury that will sideline him for six to nine months, according to Mike Garafolo of USA Today.

McCoy underwent surgery to repair the injury, and he’ll be
sidelined for at least six months. The exact timeframe isn’t yet known, as the
team has yet to confirm the injury.
While he’s the team’s second tight end behind Zach Miller,
McCoy did play in all 18 of Seattle’s games last season, starting seven of them.
In total, he caught 18 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns during the
regular season. He also saw action in all 16 games in 2011.
What the Seahawks will have to decide is whether they will
keep him on the roster through the physically-unable-to-perform list. Seattle
drafted a tight end – Luke Wilson out of Rice – in the 5th round of
the recent NFL Draft, so he’ll likely be forced into a larger role with the
team.
