Trade talks between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami
Dolphins are viewed by both parties as “dead,” according to Ian Rapoport of
NFL.com. Rapoport adds that the Chiefs will now focus on locking Albert up to a
long-term contract extension.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday on "NFL Total Access" that both parties now view an Albert trade as "dead," according to several sources involved in the process. The Chiefs now will focus on locking up the offensive tackle with a long-term contract.
According to a source, the Dolphins only offered Kansas City
a third-round pick for Albert, not the 54th overall selection in the
second round as was previously rumored. The Chiefs weren’t willing to budge on
their asking price for the offensive tackle, and a deal was ultimately never
completed.
While talks are reported to be dead, trade rumors could pick
up again in the future. Albert has been vocal about his desire to remain at
left tackle, a role that is likely to be filled by first-overall pick Eric
Fisher.
In an effort to trigger a trade, Albert signed his franchise
tender. Unless he accepts a move to right tackle, there may not be a fit for
him in Kansas City.
