Washington Redskins free agent running back Tim Hightower was scheduled to visit with the New York Giants in early April, but the meeting never took place. The running back has remained on the Giants' radar, as Ralph Vacchiano of The New York Daily News is reporting that Hightower will meet with the team today.

Tim Hightower, the former Redskins running back who was scheduled to make a free-agent visit to the Giants in early April, has rescheduled and is due to arrive in New Jersey for his visit on Wednesday, the Daily News has learned.
Vacchiano says the Giants are merely "doing their due diligence" when it comes to Hightower, who was a former promising back in the NFL. He scored 23 touchdowns over his first three seasons in the NFL, spending time with the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Redskins.
However, Hightower hasn't appeared in an NFL game since he tore his left ACL in October of 2011. He is slated to take a physical and workout for the Giants today.
It wouldn't appear that New York has much of a need for Hightower, considering they have David Wilson and Andre Brown in the mix for their starting backfield. Ryan Torain and Da'Rel Scott are also on the roster, while they drafted Michael Cox out of UMass in the seventh round of the recent NFL Draft.
Still, if Hightower proves healthy, he's shown he can be a dynamic back in the league. New York may be willing to make room on the roster for him depending on what they see from his workout.
