The Atlanta Falcons have already made a pair of high-profile
free agent acquisitions this offseason, adding running back Stephen Jackson and
defensive end Osi Umenyiora. Atlanta is continuing its efforts to bolster their
defense, as FOX Sports South is reporting that the Falcons are currently in contract
talks with veteran defensive lineman Richard Seymour.

It’s not clear how serious these talks are, as the Falcons
do not have much in the way of cap space remaining. Still, FOX is reporting
that Seymour is interested in playing for the Falcons, who are not far from
where he played his college football in Georgia. He’s been training in metro Atlanta
during the offseason while seeking his next contract.
Seymour would represent a significant upgrade for the
Falcons, as they are currently set to rely on two untested young players. They
cut Ray Edwards last season, and they lost Vance Walker to the Oakland Raiders
in free agency.
