The San Diego Chargers announced yesterday that outside linebacker
Melvin Ingram suffered a torn ACL, an injury that could end his season.
Considering San Diego is thin at the position, they are reportedly scrambling
to add a pass rusher. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the Chargers are now
“very interested” in Indianapolis Colts free agent Dwight Freeney, as the sides
are set to meet today.

To answer the questions: Yes, #Chargers are very interested in pass-rusher Dwight Freeney after Ingram went down. He visits SD tomorrow.

The market for Freeney and other veteran pass rushers –
including John Abraham – was expected to heat up this week. There are several
teams that have expressed interest in the defensive end/outside linebacker, and
the Chargers are now added to the list.
Abraham and Freeney have both performed best during their
time as defensive ends in the NFL. Freeney struggled to handle the transition to
outside linebacker last year when the Colts changed to a 3-4 scheme.
