The severity of the tear is not yet known, but if it is
complete he will undergo surgery that will likely sideline him for the entire
2013 season.
The Chargers selected Ingram No. 18 overall in last year’s
draft. He didn’t show much in his rookie campaign, as he only started one game,
totaling 16 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble. San Diego was hoping the
linebacker would be able to take a big step forward in 2013.
Fellow outside linebackers Shaun Phillips and Antwan Barnes
have left the Chargers via free agency, so the team is extremely thin at the
position. This could result in the pursuit of one of the remaining veteran
options on the open market, including Dwight Freeney or John Abraham.
