Houston Texans wide receiver DeVier Posey will open the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Posey tore his left Achilles during a contest against the New England Patriots in January.
If Posey starts the regular season on the PUP list, it means he'll be unavailable for the Texans for at least the first six weeks of the year.
The Texans selected Posey in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He was a disappointment last season prior to his injury, as he only registered six catches for the team.
Given the status of Posey and his lack of production last year, it wasn't surprising to see Houston select former Clemson wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins with the No. 27 pick last night. The Texans lost Kevin Walter to free agency, so they could look to add another wide out before the weekend's over.
