Minnesota Vikings free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield is
deciding between rejoining his former team or signing a contract with the
Seattle Seahawks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Winfield doesn’t appear to be leaning in any one direction,
as Rapoport describes the situation as “very fluid.” However, the veteran
corner is expected to make a decision on where to play next season soon.
It’s been reported that Winfield had been closing in on an
agreement with the Seahawks, but this could have just been used in effort to
get the Vikings to increase their offer. He could remain as a starter with the
Vikings, or he could become part of the league’s top nickel secondary in
Seattle.
If it’s about the money and familiarity, Winfield will opt
to remain with the Vikings. If he has his mind set on attempting to win a Super
Bowl ring, he’ll likely go with the Seahawks. It will be interesting to see how
this thing plays out.
