When the restricted free agency period passed and wide receiver Victor Cruz remained with the New York Giants, coach Tom Coughlin expected there to be a quick resolution to contract talks. Considering Cruz still hasn't signed his deal, Coughlin told WFAN yesterday that the situation "has to be a concern."

"It has to be a concern because when the restricted free agency period is over, you would hope that things would move fast. What we want is exactly what I said the other day. We want a win-win. We want Victor to be proud to be a New York Giant, proud of his contract," Coughlin said.
At this point, Cruz has three options. He can sign a one-year, $2.879 million tender. He can agree to sign the multi-year contract the Giants are currently offering, which carried an average annual value of roughly $7 million. Or he can hold out in hopes of getting a larger multi-year contract from the team.
So far, Cruz is choosing the latter option, as he has yet to appear at the Giants' optional offseason program. The dynamic wide out totaled 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He lit the NFL world on fire during his rookie season in 2011, finishing with 1,536 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
