Buccaneers rumors: Darrelle Revis trade details

As previously reported by Blaine Blontz, the Jets may look to trade down in this week's draft. According to New York writer Brian Costello, they will have some additional ammunition at the top half of the first round.

5:00 p.m. UPDATE: Darrelle Revis' sets new contract with Bucs- 6 years, $96,000,000.

The lingering trade speculation that CB Darrelle Revis will be playing for Tampa Bay next year seems to have come to fruition. The Jets will have their own first round pick at #9, as well as the Buccaneers' at #13. Additionally, Tampa will include value in the 2014 draft - currently a 4th round pick with potential to become a 3rd rounder if Revis is still on Tampa's roster the 3rd day of the 2014 season.

Here's an updated look at the stock of draft picks the two teams are projected to have:
New York Jets: #9, 13, 39, 72, 106, 141, 178, 215
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: #43, 73, 112, 126, 147, 181, 218

This trade could work out nicely for both teams. Tampa is recovering from a year of underachievement in an uber-competitive division. Last year, the Bucs free agency splash came on offense; signing OG Carl Nicks, and WR Vincent Jackson. This year, it looks like the priority has switched to defense; having already signed FS Dashon Goldson, and now Revis.

The Jets are in a rebuilding phase; the more draft picks the better. If I'm Rex Ryan, I'm looking to take a CB in the top 10. Regarding my other top pick, I'd look to a team loaded with picks, but with none in the top 20; like the 49ers. According to Calculator Soup, The 49ers 1st round pick and early 2nd round pick would hold equal value to the Jets' #13 pick. This would put the Jets in a prime position to grab a QB late in the first round, and still have picks 34 & 39 right around the corner.
