The San Francisco 49ers will once again have a Montana in
minicamp. No, it’s not going to be Joe, but Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee
is reporting that the 49ers have invited his son – Nate Montana – to rookie
minicamp.

Nate Montana will attend #49ers' upcoming rookie minicamp on an invitation basis, his agent said. Looked good at "local" pro day this month.

Barrows adds that Nate looked good at a local pro day
earlier this month, perhaps prompting the invitation. The 23-year-old spent a
short period of time at Notre Dame before eventually landing with Division II
West Virginia Wesleyan College. There he was best in the conference with 2,480
passing yards and 19 touchdowns last season.
Still, Nate is likely a stretch to make an NFL roster, as
NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks says he’s going to have a hard time transitioning to the
pros. Montana’s “passes don’t have zip,” while “he has difficulty making pro
throws,” according to Brooks.
Boy does that last sentence sound weird out of context.
