Another one to visit is Victor Butler, the free agent linebacker according to the Times-Picayune:
The Saints are looking for outside linebackers as they convert to a 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Butler, who is 6 feet 2 and 245 pounds, played under Ryan with the Dallas Cowboys. The 25-year-old had 25 tackles and three sacks last season. He was a fourth-round pick by the Cowboys out of Oregon State in 2009. Butler has already visited the Steelers during free agency, but left Pittsburgh without a contract.
The 25-year-old defender has the Saints high on his list despite a crowded house at the edge rusher position, where Butler would compete for snaps with Will Smith, Martez Wilson and Junior Galette. Butler recorded 25 tackles and three sacks last season and figures to be more of a role player, but his experience in Ryan's defense makes this a potential match.
