Elvis Dumervil is clearly the cream of the free agent pass
rushing crop, but there are other veteran options available – including former
Indianapolis Colts defensive end/outside linebacker Dwight Freeney. According
to Pro Football Talk, the Denver Broncos, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh
Steelers remain in play for both free agents.

According to league sources familiar with the situation,
Dumervil’s decision on where to play in 2013 and beyond is likely to come down
to the Ravens and Broncos. Whichever team doesn’t land Dumervil will become
expected to land Freeney. The Steelers offer a possible alternative destination
for both players.
Baltimore and Denver will clearly be competing for Dumervil’s
services, considering he’s under 30 and considered the most productive pass
rusher on the market. Freeney could be a consolation prize for the loser of the
Dumervil sweepstakes, while the Steelers could join the mix to make things
interesting. Pittsburgh doesn’t have much to offer in the way of cap space, so
an agreement with Dumervil appears unlikely.
