Falcons making strong push to sign Giants free-agent DE Osi Umenyiora and are trying to wrap up a deal with him before end of the weekend.

Schefter adds that the Falcons hope to wrap up a deal with Umenyiora
before the end of the weekend.
The Falcons are in the market for a pass rusher after
cutting ties with defensive end John Abraham. Umenyiora visited with the Falcons
on Wednesday and took a physical for the team the next day.
While Umenyiora and Abraham were both veterans, Umenyiora is
three years younger than Abraham. Umenyiora is unlikely to command an extremely
large contract, and he’ll be able to join a contender in the Falcons, making it
a good potential fit for both sides.
