The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have emerged as the favorite to
acquire New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, and the team’s management is
now “fully on board” with a trade involving the All-Pro, according to Jason Cole
of Yahoo! Sports.
Cole notes that, at this point, the holdup is what the Jets
are willing to accept in exchange for Revis. Tampa Bay doesn’t want to
surrender its first-round pick (No. 13 overall) in this year’s NFL Draft.
The Bucs are said to be unwilling to match the price the
Seattle Seahawks paid for wide receiver Percy Harvin earlier this week, a first-
and seventh-round pick this year and a third-round pick in 2014. Tampa Bay has hesitations
regarding Revis’ health and the massive contract extension he is seeking.
Instead, the Bucs may be more willing to part ways with
their 2014 first-round pick, according to Cole.
