New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis may begin rehabbing
from surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament as soon as April, trainer Will
Sullivan tells Connor Orr of The Star-Ledger.
Sullivan, Revis’ defensive backs trainer, told Orr that
Revis is on pace to begin football-related activities, which would include at
least some light running and conditioning, as soon as April.
"For me, I think I’m thumbs up in April, I’m going to get the green light (from Revis’ training staff) in April," Sullivan told The Star-Ledger in a recent interview. The great thing is, there’s been no setbacks, it’s been a great surgery, he’s doing the right things — he hasn’t done too much, he hasn’t done too little. He’s doing just enough to make sure he’s cooperating with the doctor and physical therapist.”
Sullivan said that short-distance sprints will be the
workout of choice to get Revis back into playing shape once he’s cleared. He
will closely monitor the cornerback’s hamstrings, which have presented injury
problems in the past.
The Jets have said that they may consider trading Revis this
offseason to free salary cap space and obtain draft picks. For this reason,
many other teams will likely be eyeing the All-Pro’s recovery process.
