The Arizona Cardinals are very interested in Matt Barkley after
meeting with the former USC quarterback at the NFL scouting combine, according to
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com.
Jeremiah continued on to say that, according to one source,
the Cardinals were “extremely impressed” by Barkley’s interview.
Barkley wasn’t able to throw at the combine due to his
shoulder separation. However, he was still able to meet and conduct interviews
with potential suitors.
The interviews must have gone well, as at least three teams
are now impressed enough to consider Barkley as worthy of a first-round pick.
There is now talk that rookie won’t get beyond the Cardinals, who hold the No.
7 overall pick. There are also those that don’t believe Arizona will reach for
a quarterback with their first pick, so all rumors at this time have to be
tempered.
Whatever the case, it appears that Barkley only helped, not
hurt, his cause of being selected in the first round.
