Less than three months removed from a devastating knee
injury that was initially considered career-threatening, South Carolina running
back Marcus Lattimore said he’s hoping to be ready for the start of the 2013
NFL season, according to Dan Wolken of USA Today Sports.
"That's my goal, and it is realistic," Lattimore said.
Lattimore is currently rehabbing his injury in Gulf Breeze,
Florida. He’s recovering from multiple torn ligaments in his dislocated right
knee, an injury he sustained during an Oct. 27 victory over the Tennessee
Volunteers.
Lattimore was projected to go in the first round of the 2013
NFL Draft, but his future is now in question considering the severity of his injury.
Still, he’s hoping he’ll be able to show recovery to the point where teams
believe in his projected timeframe for return.
Lattimore ran for 2,677 yards and 38 touchdowns during parts
of three seasons at South Carolina. The junior elected to declare for the NFL
Draft over returning to school for his senior year.
