The Oakland Raiders have announced that quarterback Carson
Palmer suffered cracked ribs and a bruised lung during Sunday’s loss to the Carolina
Panthers and the 33-year-old will not play in the team’s regular season finale,

Raiders coach Dennis Allen announced that his quarterback suffered cracked ribs and a bruised lung during Sunday’s 17-6 loss in Carolina. Palmer returned to the Bay Area with the team but spent the night at a hospital. Fun.
Palmer is due $13 million next season, an amount the Raiders
are certainly not going to pay him. Considering his production this year, 4,018
passing yards with 22 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, and the lack of
quarterbacks expected to be available, Palmer shouldn’t have a hard time finding
a job this offseason.
That is, if he wants to find a job. The veteran could
instead opt for retirement, something he’s considered in the past.
The Raiders have not yet announced who will start in place
of Palmer. Former first-round pick Matt Leinart replaced Palmer against the
Panthers, but Oakland has said that it’s aiming to get Terrelle Pryor more
playing time.
