Philadelphia Eagles to Fire Andy Reid

Following yesterday’s ugly loss to the New York Giants in their season finale, it began to be reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were set to part ways with long-time head coach Andy Reid. Team owner Jeff Lurie told Reid Friday that he would be out as Eagles’ coach, ending his 14-year run with the team, reports Reuben Frank of CSN Philly.

Lurie, according to multiple league sources, has decided that Reid will not return in 2013, ending months of speculation about his future. One source said Lurie met with Reid on Friday and told him he wouldn't be returning as head coach.

An Eagles spokesman has said that a decision has yet to be made, as Reid and Eagles’ brass are set to meet this morning to discuss his future. However, a quick decision is expected to be passed down which will result in the end of the Reid coaching era in Philly.

While there have been rumblings that the Eagles could offer Reid a front office position, he’s said that he’s hoping to continue coach without taking a year off. Considering his track record and the number of firings expected around the league Reid should have plenty of suitors.
