While New York Jets coach Rex Ryan said quarterback Tim
Tebow is expected to be a game-time decision this weekend when the team takes
on the Arizona Cardinals, Ed Werder of ESPN has learned that the club is
expected to make their backup QB inactive for the contest.

Earlier Friday, a source told ESPN that Ryan has made plans to designate Tebow as inactive for Sunday's game to provide time for his two fractured ribs to heal.
Tebow is recovering
from two fractured ribs he sustained during a game against the Seattle Seahawks
a few weeks ago. He was active on Thanksgiving Day against the New England
Patriots, but he didn’t participate in a single snap that game. Following the
team’s blowout loss to the Pats, Tebow revealed his rib injury to reporters.
If Tebow is inactive Sunday against the Cardinals,
third-string quarterback Greg McElroy would act as Mark Sanchez’s backup. The
second-year player took Tebow’s place at practice for much of the week.
