Eagles Rumors: Michael Vick Won’t Restructure Deal

At this point, it appears the only way quarterback Michael Vick will remain with the Philadelphia Eagles beyond this season is if he agrees to restructure his contract, something the veteran is not willing to do, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Would Vick be willing to renegotiate his contract? He declined to speculate on such a premise earlier this week, but an NFL source familiar with the quarterback’s thinking said that Vick would not restructure his deal.

Vick is currently under contract with the Eagles through 2015. He’s set to receive $15.5 million in base salary next season, but Philadelphia is unlikely to retain him at that price given the presence of Nick Foles and the pending coaching change.

If Vick isn’t willing to restructure his deal, it’s unlikely that he’ll return with the Eagles next season. The 32-year-old has said that he believes he can still be a starting quarterback in the NFL. Given the lack of alternative free agent options set to hit the open market, Vick may well decide to forego a restructuring and test his luck as a free agent.
