The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to part ways with
current general manager Scott Pioli following the season, and there are some
around the NFL that believe former Indianapolis Colts GM Bill Polian will be
with the club by next month, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Longtime NFL executive Bill Polian will be exploring NFL options in 2013, sources said, and numerous NFL execs believe he could be with the Chiefs next month.
Pioli was offered a contract extension with the Chiefs prior
to the start of this season but opted to turn it down, according to La Canfora.
Now, following the disappointing 2012 campaign, large-scale changes are on the
horizon in Kansas City.
Considering there may be six GM positions open after this
season, this could be the year that Polian, who’s reportedly exploring his
options, will return to an NFL front office. La Canfora adds that Polian could fill
a similar role to the one played by former Chiefs GM Carl Peterson.
