NFL.com's Albert Breer reports Roethlisberger will not play against the Ravens on Sunday, according to a Steelers team source.
Roethlisberger is regaining strength in his right shoulder,
according to Breer, but he “isn’t where he needs to be yet.” Big Ben has been
better in practice as the week’s progressed, but he is still experiencing
discomfort in his sprained shoulder and dislocated rib.
Roethlisberger said there was a chance he would play this weekend after Thursday’s practice, but he also said that he believed veteran
backup Charlie Batch was capable of leading the team.
Given the fact that Batch was unable to lead the Steelers to
a victory over the Cleveland Browns last weekend, it’s hard to imagine them
overcoming the division-leading Ravens in Baltimore. However, this top rivalry
has taught us that anything is possible.
