Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning returned to the
practice field for the first time yesterday since injuring his thumb Sunday
night against the New Orleans Saints. Manning was listed on the team’s injury
report, but his teammates said he was unaffected by the thumb injury, reports
the Associated Press.

The tape didn't wrap all the way around Manning's thumb, leaving him able to grip the football like normal, and Denver Broncos teammates said his throws and hand-offs at practice were unaffected by his injury in his first action since he smacked his throwing hand on a defender's helmet Sunday night.
Manning sustained the injury against the Saints when his
thumb connected with a defender’s helmet in the second quarter. The injury did
bleed and Manning seemed to favor his thumb, but he went on to throw two
touchdown passes in the second half.
Manning told reporters after practice that his thumb
continues to be sore, but he said it’s more irritating than anything else. He
seems ready to play this weekend.
