Cowboys' Miles Austin Exits Thanksgiving Game With Hip Injury

The Dallas Cowboys were hoping for more November magic from Tony Romo and the entire team.  Romo had not been beaten in November in his career.  However, that changed yesterday when the Washington Redskins jumped out to a big lead and held on to win 38-31.  The game wasn't the only things Dallas lost, though.  Wide receiver Miles Austin had to leave the game with an injury.

Austin exited the game in the first quarter after taking a big hit from London Fletcher.  Austin was in the endzone trying to make a catch when the Redskins' veteran linebacker put a good hit on him.  According to Calvin Watkins and Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, Austin suffered a right hip strain.  He was not able to return in the game.

Austin is a seven-year veteran and has played every season of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.  Austin has had a bounce-back year of sorts this season.  He only played 10 games in 2011 and accumulated 579 yards.  So far, in ten games this season, Austin already has 727 yards and four touchdowns.  His best season came in 2009 when Auston had over 1,300 yards receiving and pulled down 11 touchdowns.

The Cowboys are quickly falling out of contention with last night's loss.  They are 5-6 on the season, two game behind the New York Giants.  The Redskins improved to 5-6 and are clinging to playoff hope much like the Cowboys are.  With Austin's injury - and we still don't know how bad it is - the Cowboys are in real trouble.  The team can't seem to find consistent success no matter who they have on the field, but when offensive threats like Austin are removed due to injury, the chances of success shrink drastically.
