Despite their 1-2 start to the season, the Pittsburgh
Steelers could receive a significant boost this weekend on both sides of the
football. Running back Rashard Mendenhall and linebacker James Harrison could
make their season debuts for Pittsburgh, while safety Troy Polamalu could
return from an injury that’s kept him out the past two weeks.
Harrison and Polamalu each were able to return to the field
yesterday. Polamalu has missed the past two games due to a calf injury, while
Harrison’s been rehabbing his surgically repaired left knee. While it’s unclear
if Harrison will be able to rejoin the Steelers this weekend for their matchup
with the Philadelphia Eagles, Polamalu is expected to play.
Pittsburgh could also receive a boost on the offensive side
of the ball, as running back Rashard Mendenhall’s return is imminent. Mendenhall,
who’s been out since the end of last season after tearing the ACL in his right
knee against the Cleveland Browns, has practiced regularly over the last three
weeks.
