Start Vincent Jackson vs. Eagles. The Eagles are allowing a
league-high 1207 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns to opposing wide-outs. I
know that the Buccs are working with a fresh, rookie QB but they have shown
that they have faith in him after severing ties with Freeman. Both Jackson and
Mike Williams are good fantasy starts assuming they are both healthy.
Start DeAndre Hopkins vs. Rams. This is a particularly interesting matchup. The Rams have allowed 8 receiving TDs to opposing wide-outs in 2013 (2nd-NFC) and the Texans’ primary redzone guy (Owen Daniels) was placed on IR this week. Stud WR Andre Johnson has only caught 1 pass this season in the redzone and it resulted in -1 yards, not a score. On the other hand, DeAndre Hopkins has scored in the redzone and seems to be the team’s go-to-WR in scoring territory. Don’t expect monster numbers from this up-and-coming rookie, but he should find the endzone and is a good play at Flex this week.
Start A.J. Green vs. Bills. Green is coming off of a couple
of frustrating weeks against the Jets and Pats. Needless to say, the Bills do
not have an Aqib Talib or an Antonio Cromartie. Buffalo has given up 1118
receiving yards to opposing WRs (1st-AFC) and 8 receiving TDs (T-1st-AFC).
Green is due for a bounce-back week in this AFC East matchup.
Start Justin Blackmon vs. Broncos. I’m going to go ahead and
call this one ahead of time: The Jaguars will be playing from behind for
this entire game. Even Floridians aren’t in delusion about the state of
their franchise and the matchup they have this week. Blackmon is going to see a
lot of garbage yards as the Jags will be airing it out for all 4-quarters.
Start Dwayne Bowe vs. Raiders. Bowe has averaged 5 catches
for 72 yards in his last seven games against the Raiders. Oakland has allowed
1,017 receiving yards to opposing WRs (5th-NFL).
Start Reggie Wayne vs. Chargers.
Start Terrence Williams vs. Redskins.
Sit Calvin Johnson vs. Browns. If he plays, Megatron is
obviously banged up, and Joe Hayden is going to use this opportunity to show
the league that he belongs in the conversation as one of the league’s top
shut-down corners. It’s a tough decision to make, but if you have another
viable option, Calvin might benefit from another week on your bench.
Sit Austin Pettis vs. Texans. I know everyone just scrambled
to pick this guy up as he’s clearly been Bradford’s favorite guy through 5
games, but this week just isn’t the time to start him. The Texans are only
letting up 82 yards per game receiving to opposing wide-outs.
Sit Jerome Simpson vs. Panthers. Another guy who fantasy
owners were excited to get off of waivers, but Simpson is a PPR guy who is
playing against a Panthers defense who has allowed only 47 catches to opposing
WRs (1st-NFC)
Sit Marques Colston vs. Patriots. If A.J. Green and Julio
Jones didn't get the job done against this secondary, Colston isn’t going to
do any better.
Sit Sidney Rice vs. Titans.
Sit Anquan Boldin vs. Cardinals.
Sit Denarius Moore vs. Chiefs.
On another note, to address the situation with Atlanta’s
wide receivers; Roddy White’s health is in question, as is Harry Douglas’
ability to produce. Both these guys are probably owned already in your fantasy
league, but are probably not going to be viable starters this week. We will be
keeping an eye on these guys in the coming weeks to see how much they benefit
from the absence of Julio. In addition, we will be watching RB Jason Snelling,
and rookie TE Levine Toilolo as possible fantasy benefactors moving forward.
