Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez, who may very well be one of the best tight ends to ever play in the NFL, said on Monday that he did not want to be traded despite the Falcons' 1-4 start which has put them way behind the NFC South division leading New Orleans Saints. He said he still believes in this team despite the struggles they have had this year.
Gonzalez would not be a good trade for the Falcons in my opinion. Even though Atlanta will get draft picks, they just can't trade one of the best tight ends that has ever played the game of football. It just wouldn't make sense.
Another issue for the Falcons is their wide receivers. Julio Jones may miss the rest of the season with a broken screw in his foot and Roddy White may miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury. This is not good for Matt Ryan as he will not have his top two receivers for a little while. He will have to rely on Tony Gonzalez or other receivers. Let's hope Tony does very well down the stretch.
