When news of Bradshaw’s neck injury broke, there was talk
that the ailment could be season ending. However, Bradshaw and the Colts were
hoping that the neck injury would heal on its own. They provided it with time
in order to see if it would do so, but ultimately it didn’t and the running
back has opted to go under the knife.
Bradshaw suffered the injury during the Colts’ Week 3 win
over the San Francisco 49ers. He was signed over the offseason to compete for
the team’s starting running back job, and once Vick Ballard was lost for the
season to injury he stepped into the No. 1 role.
Just before Bradshaw’s injury, Indianapolis acquired Trent Richardson from the Browns. He will now become the team’s primary back, with Donald Brown also seeing carries.
While nothing has been determined, this could be the end of
the road for Bradshaw. He had a hard enough time signing this offseason given
his foot injury history, so adding a neck ailment to the mix certainly won’t
help his cause when he again hits free agency.
