In an expected roster move, the New England Patriots have
kept tight end, Rob Gronkowski, on the active roster to start the season and
will not place him on the physical unable to perform list, reports Luke
Hughes of NESN.com.
This is an expected, but nevertheless, interesting move by the Patriots. Gronkowski is not expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. Placing him on the PUP list would have allowed the Pats to add another player to their roster but would have kept the star TE out until Week 7.
The Patriots are rolling the dice and hoping for a big payout on the come bets. If Gronkowski returns to the field of play before Week 5, and is productive and does not get hurt again, ZOOEY MOMMA! However, if Gronk is out any longer than six weeks, the Patriots wasted a chance to have an extra player on their roster (say Tim Tebow).
Gronkowski, who has been “sorry for partying” should be “sorry for always being injured.” Gronkowski has dealt with various injury issues over the last few years including back problems and a broken forearm, which required multiple surgeries. Arguably, a healthy Gronk would have turned the Patriot’s recent Super Bowl losses into Super Bowl wins.

There is no debating this point. When healthy, Gronkowski is the best blocking
and pass-catching TE in the NFL. If he
stays healthy (unlikely based on his style of play) he has the chance to be
considered the best TE of all time. It
all depends on if Gronkowski spends his life in the kennel as a PUP or an adult
canis.
