Domenik Hixon signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason with the intent of being Cam Newton’s number three receiver; instead Hixon may find himself cut before the Panthers open the season due to a nagging hamstring injury.
Hixon will finally find the field this Thursday against the Steelers in the final preseason game for the Cats according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer. Unfortunately he was unable to play in the third preseason game or the “dress rehearsal," a game generally reserved for players to shine and win roster spots. Armanti Edwards and David Gettis have all been competing for the no. 3 spot on the depth chart so nothing is guaranteed for Hixon.
Hixon returned to practice on Saturday and also participated in Sunday’s full pad session and is ready to show the Panthers why they signed him this off season.

“Man, it’s been a long preseason for me, I’m still blessed to be here and have an opportunity” stated the optimistic Hixon. If Hixon does not make the Panthers’ final roster the two-time Super Bowl Champion may still have some potential suitors as is evident in the interest he received this off season from Detroit and Cleveland.
