Ravens rumors: Baltimore could use veteran receiver

The Baltimore Ravens traded away veteran receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, leaving them with a relatively young and inexperienced core of wide outs behind Torrey Smith. While they are outwardly excited about the prospects of their young receivers, general manager Ozzie Newsome recently told ESPN’s John Clayton that the team “could use a veteran receiver.”

At this point in the offseason, the pickings are relatively slim when it comes to available players with much experience. However, there are still a few intriguing names remaining on the free agent market.

Brandon Lloyd is the most accomplished – if you’re not counting Randy Moss as a viable option – while Laurent Robinson and Austin Collie have also seen time as starters in the NFL. If Baltimore looks to the trade market to fill its ranks, NFL.com lists Nate Washington, Robert Meachem and even Santonio Holmes as potential fits.

While an outside addition is possible, it appears the Ravens are willing to give their young wide outs a shot before signing a player or making a trade. This group includes Tandon Doss, Deonte Thompson, David Reed, Tommy Streeter and LaQuan Williams.
