According the NFL's personnel notice, #Patriots terminated the contract of Brian Waters from the "Reserve/Did Not Report" list today
— Brian McIntyre (@brian_mcintyre) April 30, 2013
Waters signed with the Patriots prior to the 2011 season,
and he was successful that season for the club. However, he wound up not reporting
with the team in 2012, as he was seeking an increased contract.
This raise never came, and neither did Waters. The
36-year-old sat out the entire 2012 season, and New England simply placed him
on the reserve/did not report list. He’s now been released by the club, and is
free to sign elsewhere. There is some thought that he’d like to join a team
that plays close to his home in Texas.
Prior to signing with the Patriots, Waters was a successful
guard for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was with KC from 2000 until 2010. He’ll
now attempt to see what else is out there for him in the way of contract
offers, but there is speculation that he’s played his last NFL game.
