Rookie minicamps are starting around the NFL, and the New England Patriots began with their first on-field workout of the session. While six of the team's seven draft picks were able to suit up for the start of minicamp, wide receiver Josh Boyce is listed by the team as day-to-day as he continues to recover from a broken bone in his foot, according to Field Yates of ESPN Boston.
Boyce is believed to have sustained his foot injury prior to the combine. Pro Football Talk notes that the wide out underwent surgery on his injured foot after running a 4.38 in during the combine. Considering Boyce is listed as day-to-day, he should be cleared in plenty of time to be fully ready to go by the time training camp rolls around.
The Patriots selected Boyce in the fourth round of last weekend's NFL Draft out of Texas Christian. He's expected to battle for a starting role with New England, as he or fellow draft pick Aaron Dobson figure to line up next to offseason acquisition Danny Amendola.
