The Atlanta Falcons remain confident that they’ll be able to
reach an agreement with quarterback Matt Ryan that will keep him with the team
for years to come. However, contract talks haven’t progressed much recently, as
general manager Thomas Dimitroff told Alex Marvez and James Miller on Sirius XM
radio – courtesy Pro Football Talk – that there’s nothing new to report on the
status of a deal.
The Falcons put Ryan’s new deal on the back burner while the
NFL Draft approached. Now that the draft has come and gone, it would appear
that locking Ryan up to a long-term deal is the team’s priority. Dimitroff
remains confident that an agreement will eventually be reached.
“Right now there’s nothing new on the contract,” Dimitroff said. “Understand that he will be here. We will get this done and we would prefer to have this done sooner than later.”
“We have a very good working relationship with CAA (and Ryan’s agent Tom Condon) and I’m confident that this will, when the time is right, move expeditiously to get his done,” Dimitroff said.Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt
