Packers rumors: Green Bay working on Clay Matthews, Aaron Rodgers extensions

The Green Bay Packers are still working on getting deals done for Clay Matthews and Aaron Rodgers  according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.  Both players were hoping deals could get done by the start of offseason conditioning, which is today.

Clay Matthews deal is expected to come in around $13M a year, according to @RapSheet.  This deal would put Matthews right up there with DeMarcus Ware as the highest paid outside linebackers in the league.  Aaron Rodgers is expected to become the highest paid player in the NFL once his deal is finalized.  It will most likely pass Joe Flacco's deal that he just signed this offseason.

Clay Matthews, only 26, is in the prime of his career.  He has already racked up 42.5 sacks for his career.  Matthews won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2010 and has already helped the Packers win a Super Bowl.  Aaron Rodgers is considered by many to be the best QB in the NFL.  He was named NFL MVP in 2011 and along with Matthews helped bring a Super Bowl to Green Bay, as he was named MVP in the team's Super Bowl win.

Matthews and Rodgers are both deserving of new deals and are going to be Green Bay Packers for a long time.
