NFL rumors: Where will Ahmad Bradshaw land?

New York Giants free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw received good news on Friday when he was cleared by doctors to resume football-related activities. However, this good news was short-lived, as Bradshaw’s prospects for signing a new contract in the near future seemingly diminished over the weekend during the NFL Draft.

Entering the draft, there were several teams that expressed interest in Bradshaw – including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals. Each of these teams added at least one running back in the draft, which would indicate that they may no longer be interested in signing Bradshaw.

The Steelers – who have been most-extensively tied to Bradshaw this offseason – selected running back Le’Veon Bell in the second round. The Packers stopped Eddie Lacy’s slide in the second, while the Bengals (Giovani Bernard) and Broncos (Montee Ball) also took backs in the Round 2. The Bengals and Packers actually added a pair of running backs this weekend, while the Steelers also inked free agent rusher La’Rod Stephens-Howling.

At this point, it’s not clear where Bradshaw will land. He’s been cleared to resume play, so there aren’t as many questions surrounding his health. Ironically, he may now have to wait for another running back to get hurt before he gets a chance to sign.
