Baltimore Ravens free agent safety Ed Reed visited with the
Houston Texans yesterday. Reed thoroughly enjoyed his stay with the Texans, and
told reporters, including John McClain of The Houston Chronicle, that interest
between he and Houston is mutual.
“It’s mutual,” Reed said about his interest in the Texans. “Both of us are contenders and want to get a championship, but we still have some things to work out. Conversations have been great, amazing. We’re on the same page as far as what we need to get done.”
Reed is a native of New Orleans, meaning signing with the
Texans will put him closer to his hometown. Many around the NFL are expecting
the free agent to eventually reach a deal with Houston. While Reed is 34, he’s played
in every game over the past two seasons for the Ravens, including Baltimore’s
Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
The Texans were initially hoping to re-sign safety Glover
Quin, but the free agent ultimately reached a lucrative deal with the Detroit
Lions.
