Free agent tight end Fred Davis has crossed the New York
Jets off his list, limiting his potential landing spot to the Washington Redskins
and Buffalo Bills, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
Davis was scheduled to meet with the Jets, but he’s canceled
his visit. He met with the Bills yesterday, and he is very familiar with the
Redskins, having spent the past several seasons with the team.
Following Davis’ meeting with Buffalo, there was reportedly
a deal on the table. However, this two-year contract the Bills offered is
reportedly not worth much more guaranteed money than the one-year deal the
Redskins have extended.
Davis is recovering from surgery to repair a torn Achilles
tendon. The tight end could benefit from a one-year deal in order to
re-establish his value before attempting to cash in on the free agent market
next offseason.
