The pieces all fall into place now, as the New York Giants decision to let tight end Marcellus Bennett leave after one season, becomes clearer as they agreed terms with Oakland Raider Brandon Myers on Saturday, as reported by Mike Garafolo of USA Today.
The numbers above make clear that whomever is the tight end can expect some receptions, but perhaps Eli Manning has the first recognisable tight end since Jeremy Shockey he can rely upon.

Myers spent the first four years of his career with the Raiders. In 2012, he hauled in 79 receptions for 806 yards and four touchdowns. According to Football Outsiders, he ranked sixth in total value among all NFL tight ends (just ahead of Vernon Davis and Jimmy Graham; Bennett was 14th).
A former sixth-round pick out of Iowa, Myers could assume a similar role in New York. Bennett was second on the team in receptions after Victor Cruz in 2012. The year before, Jake Ballard, Travis Beckum and Bear Pascoe combined for 55 receptions.
The lesson: The Giants like utilizing their tight ends, and Myers proved to be a capable pass-catcher a season ago. In his previous 12 starts, however, he managed just 32 catches. So it's fair to wonder if he can maintain that productivity.
