It took former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan a bit more than five minutes, but he has now landed a job running the St. Louis Rams’
defensive unit, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Ryan has an agreement with the Rams to become their defensive coordinator, a source close to the coach told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The same source told Rapoport the deal will happen.
Ryan has been a defensive coordinator in the NFL since 2004
as a member of the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and most recently the
Cowboys. Dallas opted to cut ties with Ryan following another disappointing season
rather than make changes at the head coaching position or at quarterback.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said Ryan was fired because
of a lack of turnovers generated by his defense. Dallas finished the 2012
season with the fourth-fewest turnovers in the NFL.
Still, Ryan is known solid defensive mind, and it will be
interesting to see what he can do with a Rams’ unit that showed promise under
head coach Jeff Fisher.
