Bears rumors: Brian Urlacher returning ‘for sure’

There were rumors that Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher would consider retiring after the season, but the veteran said yesterday that he’s “for sure” going to play in 2013, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Asked if he definitely would be playing somewhere in 2013, Urlacher said, "For sure, yes. Still feel like I can, a little bit."

Urlacher will turn 35 in May, and he’s set to hit the free agent market this offseason. He says Chicago is his home, and he hopes to re-sign with the club. However, if he’s not able to reach an agreement with the Bears, Urlacher also indicated he is willing to sign elsewhere in order to continue his career.

As far as his next contract, Urlacher said it will be hard not to give Chicago a hometown discount considering his age. He wasn’t willing to go much further, but he did say that he doesn’t expect to make what he did in the past.

Urlacher, who was limited by injuries last season, finished the year with 68 tackles, two forced fumbles and one interception.
