Raiders Name Terrelle Pryor Starting Quarterback

The Oakland Raiders have elected to go with second-year quarterback Terrelle Pryor, not veteran reserve Matt Leinart, to replace the injured Carson Palmer during Sunday’s finale against the San Diego Chargers, reports Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times.

"I’ve decided to go with Terrelle Pryor as our quarterback,’’ Allen said Friday following practice. “He’ll play in the game and we’ll see how the game goes. He’s the starter, and we’re going to go into it as we would any other game."

Raiders coach Dennis Allen said Pryor provides the team “a unique element of athleticism” at the quarterback position. Oakland had said in previous weeks that they were hoping to give Pryor more of an opportunity to showcase his talents with the regular season winding down.

The Raiders and NFL fans alike are anxious to see Pryor, who showed off his dynamic abilities during his time with at Ohio State. It figures to be a learning experience for the young quarterback, as he’s only played in six snaps over the past two games.
