Based on their participation during Monday’s practice,
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expects safety Troy Polamalu,
linebacker James Harrison and running back Rashard Mendenhall to return this
week against the Philadelphia Eagles:
“Based on what I am looking at on how we worked yesterday I think that is a safe assessment,” said Tomlin when asked if they will play Sunday. “We will watch these guys as we proceed throughout the week. All guys have performed well and were able to get through practice and we’re optimistic that they’re going to be full participants.”
Polamalu has missed the past two games due to a calf injury.
It would mark the 2012 debuts for Harrison and Mendenhall, who are each aiming
to return from serious knee injuries sustained last season.
The Steelers could certainly use the boost of three
returning veterans as they try to avoid falling to 1-3 on the season Sunday
against the dynamic Eagles.
