While defensive end Justin Smith is doubtful to play today
against the Arizona Cardinals, tight end Vernon Davis is questionable after
being cleared to return to practice earlier in the week, reports Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.
Niners defensive tackle Justin Smith (triceps) says he’ll be ready to play next week, but he's doubtful for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Arizona Cardinals. Tight end Vernon Davis (concussion) is questionable. He could be cleared to play by doctors Saturday.
Smith has been diagnosed with a partially torn triceps.
While it isn’t expected to sideline him for the remainder of the season, the
defensive end is unlikely to suit up against the Cardinals. Smith has vowed to
return for the playoffs.
Davis was cleared to resume practicing earlier in the week
after sustaining a concussion. He could be a game-time decision.
Beyond Smith and Davis, defensive lineman Will Tukuafu
(neck) and linebacker Clark Haggans (shoulder) are the only other 49ers on the
report that are listed as something other than probable.
